Gay Olympic figure skater would refuse to meet the VP

Adam Rippon, 28, was named as one of three male figure skaters who will skate for the US in Pyeongchang, South Korea in February. And the American delegation is to be led by one of the most notorious homophobes in the American politics – the Vice-President Mike Pence. “You mean Mike Pence, the same Mike Pence that funded gay conversion therapy? I’m not buying it,” Rippon reacted on the announcement. “To stand by some of the things that Donald Trump has said and for Mike Pence to say he’s a devout Christian man is completely contradictory. If he’s okay with what’s being said about people and Americans and foreigners and about different countries that are being called ‘shitholes,’ I think he should really go to church,” the figure skater added. Rippon said that if he were offered the chance to meet the VP after performing, he would love to talk to Pence, but only if the VP is ready to open his mind and to listen to others.
