Transphobic activist suspended by the Labour party

An activist behind an online fundraiser to block self-identifying transgender women from women’s shortlist is now facing suspension from the party. According to a tweet posted by Jennifer James the party asked her to leave due to her posts in social media. She previously said that she did not want to belong to the party that insists that women can have penises. Responding to a Twitter user who said they were “sorry” about the suspension, she said that the news is “a good thing” as it means “they’re getting rattled”. Ms James now faces being banned from the party entirely, depending on the decision taken by Labour’s disciplinary panel. Dawn Butler, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities, has given her backing to transgender women who stand under the system. The Labour Party leader also ensures that there is a space for trans women in the party’s shortlists.
