Rodrigo Duterte has told the country that they should not be using condoms as he believes that they don’t allow to get pleasure from sex, and that fact that his country is now dealing with a population boom is not an argument for him. But if people still want to use contraception, Duterte believes it should be pills only and women are those who sould bother about it, not men. Further illustrating his point, the controversial president put a sweet wrapped in plastic into his mouth saying that this is how sex in condom feels like. However it is known that condoms have the highest level of guarantee to avoid pregnancy in comparison to oral pills and pills do not protect from sexually transmitted diseases. The comments have been slammed for being careless as the country is currently suffering from the highest rates of HIV infection in Asia. In six years, HIV rates jumped 140 percent as 10,500 new cases were reported in 2016 compared to 4,300 cases in 2010.
