Despite previous claims that the Trump administration would keep on a special envoy for LGBTI rights, there is currently no work to be done in this direction. President Obama had created the role of US Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTI Persons, appointing gay diplomat Randy Berry to the role to allow him to dedicate his time to fighting anti-LGBT legislation and Trump decided to keep him on post when he took office, but the activists are afraid that the role is only formal. It was confirmed in November that Mr Berry was no longer in the brief, and he is now listed on as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. He is not LGBT envy anymore and there is nobody who would take this responsible post after him. But the officials claim that they are seeking a new envy already.
