Journalist Charles Wooley behaved rather strange interviewing Jacinda Ardern. At first he complimented her: “I’ve met a lot of prime ministers in my time. But none so young, not too many so smart, and never one so attractive”. Not everybody took the compliment well and accused the journalist of sexism. While Ardern faltered at the comment, Wooley struggled to take the hint, and then asked the couple when the pregnant Prime Minister and her TV presenter partner conceived the child, Twitter users noted that it was inappropriate and rude and political leaders are not asked about it. Ardern said that the comments about her attractiveness were nothing new, but she was “not particularly offended or fazed by the interview as a whole”.
