Washington State has sent a bill which would ban on harmful and ineffective practices for children to the Governor’s office and if the Governor approves it, the bill will be signed into law. Washington state this week became the latest to pass legislation in both Houses, and approval from the Governor is the final step. Governor Jay Inslee is likely to sign the bill because lawmakers are actively encouraging him to do it. If signed into law by Inslee, Washington State will be the tenth state in the US to explicitly ban the practice for underage people. Human Rights Campaign congratulated Washington with such a decision issuing the following statement: “It’s time for Washington to join the growing number of states and municipalities who are enacting these critical protections. We thank the state legislators who voted to protect LGBTQ youth from this dangerous practice and now call on Governor Inslee to sign this crucially important legislation.”
