Andrew Leach came out as bisexual to his class because he was struggling deep inside and could not hide it from himself. He thought it would be easier for him to live after coming out, but instead he was subjected to bullying he could not overcome. Parents taught their boy that he was amazing and deeply loved, but now they see that their love was not enough to heal his wounds. Andrew’s mom said that he had always seemed happy and was ready to support everyone who struggled, the struggle of his own was kept deep inside and he did not let anybody see it. Now, Andrew’s family are campaigning for bullying to be highlighted. They are also looking into whether the school districts zero-tolerance bullying policy was enforced. The school district said in a statement that “all claims are investigated thoroughly” and the school staff is encouraged to undergo anti-bullying trainings.
