Irish PM reveals how it was to discuss LGBT rights with Mike Pence

Ireland’s Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has confirmed he raised LGBT rights at a private meeting with the anti-gay American VP Mike Pence. As we previously reported, media correspondents were not allowed to be present at the meeting and apparently it was an initiative of the American side.“I did privately manage to speak to them about equality and my support for equal rights for women and the LGBT community here in America and also in Ireland,” said Varadkar, though he preferred not to reveal what Pence had told him in respond. Hew said only that Pence was surprisingly nice to him and even invited him to visit the USA next time with his male beloved Matt. “There are so many ifs and maybes, first of all I have to survive another year in my current office and secondly, Matt is not terribly keen to attend official functions but you never know,” the Irish PM replied to the invitation.
