John Oliver parodies book about Mike Pence’s bunny rewriting it into a gay rights manifesto

Comedian John Oliver has hit out at Mike Pence with a beautiful pro-LGBT parody of a children’s book about the VP’s pet. Earlier this year it was announced that the family of Vice President Mike Pence would be releasing a children’s novel about the Pence family rabbit, Marlon Bundo, written by the VP’s daughter Charlotte and illustrated by his wife Karen. On the most recent episode of his HBO show Last Week Tonight, John Oliver took aim at Mike Pence, criticizing him for the anti-LGBT views he promotes. As part of a wider segment about the Vice President, Oliver described the Pence family rabbit as the ‘most likeable thing about an otherwise unlikable man’.The HBO star then announced his own version of the children’s book, entitled ‘A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo’, in which the vice’s bunny is gay. Oliver revealed a teaser for a ‘Marlon Bundo’ audiobook, which features celebrities Jim Parsons, Ellie Kemper, RuPaul, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. According to the publisher, the proceeds from Oliver’s book will go to two LGBT charities, The Trevor Project and AIDS United.
