Young had to endure music bosses who made him re-record tracks to avoid telling him that his voice was too gay. He only found out when he was in the studio to lay down Leave Right Now, the music bosses made him re-record the track over and over again because of ‘too gay’ sound. “There’s a real flavour to homophobia and bigotry,” said Young who felt ashamed. People did not understand that words are a weapon, they can wound and even kill.
