Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black have said “legal challenges” with surrogacy in the UK confused them about the decision on where to raise their son, but they are still sure that the child will be British. Black told BBC Radio 5 live that they had “no choice” but to go abroad to become a family because of the complex system in the UK, where commercial surrogacy is legally banned. “We would like to raise our son here [in the UK] and because of that we are going to face some real legal challenges. It would be a much easier path if we decided to raise our son in the US but this country is home for us,” said Lance, who is US-born, but is ready to move to his husband’s native country forever, as he is sure that Britain will accept him and become his real home, as well as the real home of the child.
