As we reported earlier today, queer celebrities felt offended by Rita Ora’s Sapphic song ‘Girls’. Hayley Kiyoko and Kehlani both condemned Ora for, how they called it, a harmful representation of women loving women. The British singer issued a statement in which she apologized for the caused offense and noted that it was not her intend. She wanted just to express herself and share her real-life experience to inspire her fans to be honest about who they are. She had relationships with women and she thinks she has a right to be proud of it, she wants other people to be proud o “Looking forward, I hope that continuing to express myself through my art will empower my fans to feel as proud of themselves as I’m learning to feel about who I am,” she said thanking her fans for support and promised to remain a great supporter of the LGBT community, they are her friends and she wants to be their friend.
