A transgender beauty queen Paula Araujo Oliveira participating in Brazil’s annual Miss Bumbum pageant is under fire because her fellow competitors strongly dislike that fact that they will be competing alongside a transgender woman. Trans women were not allowed to take part in this competition before. Several of the 25 other contestants tried to boot Paula and Giovanna Spinella (another trans participant) saying that only those who were born with female anatomy could participate. Oliveira does not give up and says that her rivals are just jealous because she might win them and that fact that she is trans is used as a manipulation to discredit her and get rid of her as a strong potential rival. “I’m not offended by what they said, because it’s clear they want me out because I’ve got a much sexier ass,” she giggled. The pageant organizers took Paula’s side and stated that the contestants who will discriminate against transgender women will be disqualified.
