Pose – a new drama from FX features American ball culture and the trans community of the ‘80s

New TV drama from the American network FX has captured hearts of millions of people from its first appearance on screens. The first episode of the show aired on June 3, 2018, and it became clear that the series will be a success. Pose has the most diverse LGBT cast thus far, featuring five transgender actors at once. They are Indya Moore, Hailie Sahar, MJ Rodriguez, Angelica Ross and Dominique Jackson. Among other cast members are Billy Porter, Ryan Jamaal Swain, Angel Bismark Curiel, Kate Mara, Charlayne Woodard and James Van Der Beek. Creators of the TV drama Ryan Murphy, who has also stood at the roots of American Horror Story series, Steven Canals and Brad Falchuk state that the main idea of the show was to highlight difficult issues, such as HIV diagnosis, discrimination against trans women, which were not rare in NYC’s ball culture of the 80’s. The most important message of Pose’s storyline is to fight taboos around underrepresented segments of the LGBTI scene.

The new series has received a laudable feedback from the critics and audience. Some prominent figures of the LGBT community had expressed their admiration for the show. Among them were Australian pop singer and RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Courtney Act and openly bisexual actor and singer Janelle Monáe. They posted delighted tweets on social media, encouraging people to watch a show, as it can be one of the greatest experiences. TV drama Pose airs every Sunday on the channel FX.
