Three LGBTI activists killed in Mexico over the weekend


The bodies of three LGBT activists Rubén Estrada, Roberto Vega, and Carlos Uriel López were found this Sunday, the 17th of June in Taxco, Mexico. According to the reports activists visited one of the night club in the city. Some unknown men tried to extort money from them. Rubén, Roberto and Carlos refused of giving money and began to resist. Men returned, forcibly placing activists in a van before driving away. One of the local newspapers showed photos of this terrible accident. Activists got shots in their head. There is one more version – activists were tortured. Rubén Estrada, Roberto Vega, and Carlos Uriel López were participants in the local LGBT organization. ‘We are very sad, depressed. They were young. They had a future ahead of them. The entire state’s LGBTI rights movement is sad, is in mourning’, says Gaby Soberanis, another member of this LGBTI organization.
