A lesbian couple have said they will not be taking legal action against a baker who refused to make their wedding cake because of her religion. She responded them very politely, saying that they both are probably very nice women and if the state approves their right to marry then there is a reason for it, but she personally is not ready to support this. Although the New Zealand Human Rights Act prohibits against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, the couple have said they will not be taking legal action. But they discuss it publicly not to let this situation happen again with other same-sex couples. “With marriage equality only being recently legalized (both in NZ and AUS) I think it’s important to show people that discrimination in any form is wrong and should not be tolerated,” they said.
