Tony Perkins still believes homosexuality should be illegal

Evangelical Trump ally Tony Perkins believes that it was completely wrong to repeal the sodomy laws in the USA. Perkins, who was recently appointed to serve as a United States Commissioner on International Religious Freedom by GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell, is the head of the anti-LGBT Family Research Council. He lashed out cancelling of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy and the court ruling in the historic case Lawrence vs. Texas, after which homosexuality was not considered as a crime in the USA. Perkins added that if people reject basic biology and 2000 years of civilization then there are no boundaries. Firstly, civilization began earlier than 2000 years ago. Secondly, there are animals engaged into homosexual connections, and that is why it is wrong to say that the basic biology did not include homosexuality. Perkins is alleged to have had input in a White House policy document that made the case for banning transgender people from the military by citing transgender people’s “high rates of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders” and “extremely high rates of suicidal ideation and other comorbidities.”
