Iwan Rheon condemned his hometown council for not flying a rainbow flag

The Game of Thrones actor from Wales addressed Carmarthen council asking why don’t they wave a rainbow flag showing support to the LGBT locals in the wake of Pride. Leighton Jenkins, assistant director of CBI Wales and a trustee of Chwarae Teg, wrote to the Game of Thrones star about his attitude to ignoring the LGBT Pride month by his hometown. He replied that it was terrible and the council deserves nothing but shame for being so indifferent, because every group, every community, every person deserves being celebrated and represented. The council reversed that decision following public outrage. As the BBC reported at the time, council leader Emlyn Dole instructed the flag to be raised because he was “concerned that the decision has been deliberately misinterpreted for political purposes, suggesting that Carmarthenshire County Council does not support and celebrate LGBT staff members and residents.”
