Popstar Dua Lipa has thanked fans for feeling “safe enough to show your pride” at her concert in Shanghai, China, after some gig-goers complained on social media that the staff asked them out of Lipa’s show on September 12 because they waved rainbow flags. Although some social media users have said that fans were ejected because of “safety concerns”—as some venues in the country demand watchers to sit for the whole show, others have accused security of removing guests because of the Pride symbols. Taking to Instagram the following day Dua said she was terrified that something like that could happen and when the time is right she hopes to come back to China and be welcomed with many rainbows.“I will stand by you all for your love and beliefs and I am proud and grateful that you felt safe enough to show your pride at my show. What you did takes a lot of bravery. I always want my music to bring strength, hope and unity,” Lipa concluded.
