Different but more. Tom Daley says that his sexuality empowers him

The British diver says that he has always felt that he was different from the rest because of his sexuality, but with time he understood that different is not the same as less or worse, he can feel that he is special and it can motivate him for further success, and the haters will see it and be quiet. If not, he would not care, just because he is unique and special, and such things as other people’s stupidity should not bother him. Daley, who identifies as queer and is attracted to both men and women (though his heart and soul fully belong to his husband Dustin Lance Black, with whom he brings up a son named Robbie Ray), said that he used to feel worse than others just because his environment struggled with accepting people like him. But now he is loved, successful and happy, and this feeling is totally overcome. “To this day, those feelings of feeling less than, and feeling different, have been the real things that have given me the power and strength to be able to succeed,” he told BBC Radio 4
