Trans Canadian students to be allowed to join sport teams according to gender identity

Trans students in Canada are now allowed to compete on teams that are consistent with their gender identity, the governing institution changed the set of rules and it is not obligatory anymore to get the hormonal treatment in order to be officially recognized by their gender identity is they want to join some sport team. The updated policy reads that students will only be able to participate in sports as one gender for a given academic year, and they must also comply with the anti-doping program. Speaking to the Vancouver Sun, Kai Scott, who is a principal partner at TransFocus Consulting praised that fact that it is finally admitted that trans girls are girls and trans boys are boys, whether they undergo hormone therapy or not.He said that the majority of sports are still divided along gender lines, and said that he would prefer to see divisions in other categories, such as muscle mass, hormone level or weight.
