A former Catholic minister from Cleveland has said his contract was terminated because he ‘liked’ a Facebook photo from his gay friend’s wedding. The 39-year old, who is gay, but had not previously told his diocese about his sexuality, said he was called into a meeting with his supervisor and a member of staff from human resources to discuss his controversial social network activity. The fol;lowing day he received a terminated letter stating that he is not welcome anymore, and he is still shocked how the church could act like this, because the man has always felt supported by his community, and now his suspension comes like a very painful betrayal. “The church in Cleveland has just been very discriminatory in my opinion. It’s a wake-up call for me, it’s a wake-up call that I didn’t really realize the Catholic Church would act like this,” the man said.
