A 35-year-old trans woman has been found dead with a gunshot wound in Detroit. The woman, whose name cannot be revealed due to legal reasons, was 25th transgender person to be killed in the USA this year. The victim’s body was discovered by police around 6am on Friday, December 7. Authorities are investigating claims by a 46-year-old man who told officers that he was robbed in the area and fired a shot. He is not sure whether he was the one to kill the woman, but even if yes (he is ready to admit guilt if the police give proofs), it was not intended. The man was reportedly nearby the trans victim, but police are currently treating the two cases as separate. A total of 25 trans people—mostly women of color—have now been killed in the US in 2018, according to data recorded by LGBT+ rights charity the Human Rights Campaign.
