The drag queen Courtney Act praised people who inspired her to connect her life with the art of drag and to grow in it. Among them she mentioned in part Paul O’Grady’s drag persona Lily Savage and Irish-English entertainer Danny La Rue, noting that when she was a child, the drag culture was not popularized on the level it i9s now, but there still were examples for aspiring drag queens to follow. “I stand on the shoulder (don’t worry, I took my heels off) of so many gender bending giants. Lily Savage, @JulianClary, Grayson Perry (@Alan_Measles), @DameEdnaEverage, @eddieizzard and of course Danny La Rue![Act is involved in a documentary about this drag persona – GNE]. All of these amazing performers have paved the way for me and have inspired me in so many ways,” the Australian performer wrote.
