Justin Hoke, former pastor at Trinity Bible Presbyterian Church in the town of Weed, has said he was made to leave his job at the congregation in the wake of the sign that condemned gay people and also misgendered and deadnamed the trans reality star Caitlyn Jenner. “After much prayer and counsel, I have decided that it is best to briefly communicate what has taken place,” he wrote on Facebook, recalling that he had stepped down as a pastor on January 12th because there were several members of congregation who boycotted him and threatened to leave the church if he refused to step down. “Therefore it was determined that it would be in the best interest of the local body for us (TBPC and the Hoke family) to part ways,” said Hoke, later adding that it was not his decision, it was done forcefully, against his will, and he wanted to stay, but there were people who just did not allow him to.
