The Weekend’s new track is branded homophobic

In his collaboration with French DJ Gesaffelstein, released on January 11, the singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, sings: “You said you might be into girls / Said you’re going through a phase/Keeping your heart safe / Well, baby, you can bring a friend / She can ride on top your face / While I f**k you straight.” The listeners accused The Weekend not only of infusing into people’s minds that being a lesbian is a phase, but also of propagating so-called corrective rape – the idea that when a woman tries sex with a man (even if she does not want to and shows resistance), it can ‘cure’ them from lesbianism. Others understood it differently, but also offensive – the woman might agree on such a threesome The Weekend offers her, but still, in this case using the word ‘straight’ is inappropriate, the woman attracted to both sexes (and if she agrees to have a threesome with a man and a woman , then she should be attracted to both of them), then she is bisexual, polysexual, pansexual or queer, but definitely not straight, and limiting sexuality to the gay-straight binary is misleading and humiliating.
