The Hawaiian Democrat who hopes to run for presidency next year has apologized for her previous anti-LGBT record again, issuing a video statement on social networks in which she addressed her LGBT potential voters directly. “In my past I said and believed things that were wrong, and worse, hurtful to people in the LGBTQ+ community and their loved ones,” Gabbard said, noting that she had previously apologized for her anti-gay marriage campaign but now she considers it necessary to repeat her apology and to ensure the LGBT community that she is a true friend of theirs, who is profoundly sorry for her mistaken suggestions. Gabbard said she hoped her background may help convince others to renounce discrimination and join in the fight for LGBT+ equality, just like LGBT activists and allies once helped her to understand the truth about what they do and why.
