US Senators Kamala Harris and Cory Booker denounce attack on Jussie Smollett

Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told local TV station ABC7 that according to Smollett, his attackers of the Empire actor were yelling pro-Trump slogans while pouring a chemical substance on his face. In their messages of support, Booker and Harris urged their fellow politicians to pass the anti-lynching bill they co-sponsored in the Senate, as the modern political situation in America is frightening. Lynching should be designated as a federal hate crime, and that is why this country should pay much more attention to such situations and politicians should take some steps to prevent them from happening in future. Harris, who is running for the Democratic presidential nomination, said that he knows Smollett personally, he is a very kind and sensitive man, Harris prays for his speed recovery. “This was an attempted modern-day lynching. No-one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate,” he wrote.
