Damon Wayans Jr. has a history of homophobic tweets

Actor and comedian Damon Wayans Jr. has used words like ‘tranny’ and ‘no homo’ in his tweets dated back 2010-2011, Out reports. At the same time he also used the word ‘gay’ as an insult several times. Amid the backlash, the comedian has deleted all the controversial posts and asked the audience to forgive him for his immaturity which did not allow him to understand how emotionally harmful and hurtful the words could be for the members of the LGBT community who were able to read his tweets. “When I was a young comic trying to find my voice, I made some immature and hurtful tweets that I deeply regret at the expense of the LGBTQ community. When I tweeted those comments, almost 10 years ago, I was unaware of the emotional impact they could have,” Wayans Jr. wrote, “Society evolved and so have I and it is something I will continue to do both personally and professionally. Continued learning, acceptance and thoughtful words are all important actions that will help make society a kinder and safer place for all people. You know better, you do better.”
