Teacher faced threatens after telling pupils about LGBT

Andrew Moffat, who is gay, told the BBC he has received emails and threats for talking about the danger of homophobic bullying to his pupils in the Parkfield Community School in Birmingham. It led to parents accusing him of promoting his personal beliefs to children and signing a collective petition with a demand to suspend him from teaching. Moffat, who launched the No Outsiders project in 2014 to educate children about acceptance, said it was not all, as within a couple of weeks he had been verbally abused and threatened via social networks and emails, which made him feel unsafe. “However, what keeps me going is the support from the school which is absolutely brilliant, the DfE, Ofsted, the city council. There are lots of people recognizing that this work is important and that’s what you have to hold on to.”
