The legendary classic rock ban Queen which now has the openly gay singer Adam Lambert as the guest vocalist, has started the Oscar ceremony this year by performing their two massive hits – “We are the champions” and “We will rock you”, the picture of the band’s late frontman Freddie Mercury was illuminating the stage during the performance, as it was devoted to him. Queen has seen a resurgence in the last year with the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, starring Rami Malek as Mercury, which had 5 nominations. Rami Malek was watching the performance of Queen with excitement and curiosity.

Bohemian Rhapsody has been criticized for its depiction of Mercury’s relationships with men. The final film does depict Mercury as bisexual, but critics noted it shies away from portraying some aspects of the singer’s private life prior to his death from AIDS-related illness in 1990.
