The lesbian actress says that the media should have done a lot on the way to LGBT representation, especially when it comes to transgender rights that are still described in the press as a source of debates. Page noted that the life expectancy for transgender women of color in the USA is 35 years and the causes of their deaths are rarely natural because people are not commonly dying of natural causes at 35 – they are either murdered in transphobic hate crime attacks or commit suicide because of being oppressed by the society that is not ready to accept them the way they are. But media still put it in question whether to protect them or not. Of course, a lot was done to represent LGBT community better than it used to be, for example, 20 years ago, but still, there are too many issues to work on.
