Friends are rumored to leave Netflix

At the Television Critics Association winter press tour on February 11th the chief creative of WarnerMedia Kevin Reilly stated that the company is going to launch the streaming platform of its own very soon and its content (including such iconic sitcoms ‘Friends’ and ‘Big bang theory’) will no longer be available on any other streaming platforms. As CW’s output deal with Netflix ends in spring, Reilly went on to say that they also have their eye on CW shows that have been dominating Netflix such as The Flash, Arrow and Riverdale. Reilly noted that WarnerMedia is interested in starting negotiations with CW to stream these shows on their upcoming platform. The giant streamer Netflix reportedly paid $100 million to keep Friends until the end of 2019 — but the agreement is considered non-exclusive — allowing Warner’s unnamed, upcoming service to add Friends after it launches.
