Instagram has denied bowing to pressure from the Indonesian government to remove an account which featured a comic strip focused on two Muslim characters in a same-sex romance. It caused the government of the country to issue a statement in which they warned the social media officials that Instagram would be blocked in Indonesia. And the comic was removed within days, but Instagram spokesperson has denied any connection between these facts. Ching Yee Wong, the company’s head of Asia-Pacific communications, noted that Instagram had not removed the account deliberately but there might be several reasons why it is no longer accessible for the users to observe and the account’s creator might delete the account, remove it or block cer4tain images from being publicly visible, as well as change the username. Pages on Facebook and Twitter which seem to belong to the Alpantuni have also disappeared.
