TV viewers have blasted the Village People as a “tribute act,” after the group, the story of which started in late 70s, appeared on This Morning to mark the reunion they have announced in advance. But actually there was no reunion, because only one of the band members was there. Victor Willis was the only founding member of the band to be present for their TV appearance with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield and the watchers did not even try to hide their disappointment about it. Some claimed that many of the men in the band looked too young, while others compared the group to a tribute act, suggesting that the new members were unlikely to have seen each other before the show. In August 2017, Willis was condemned by the former bandmates for returning to the group with a new line-up., they called it an outrage, a hijacking and an erasure of all of them.
