A law that would have banned anyone in Britain under 18 from accessing porn sites has been delayed just a few days before it was supposed to come into action. M any news outlets reporting that the ban was set to be implemented on April 1, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has not yet finalized a rollout date. Other outlets named December 2019 as a final date, but these reports were also confirmed to be untrue. “Introducing age verification is a world-leading step forward to protect children,” DCMS wrote in a statement published by PinkNews, “Adult content is currently too easy to access on the internet, we’re making sure the protections that exist for children offline are provided online too.” The UK is going to be the first country to implement the legal age verification for online porn. The porn ban, passed by the House of Commons in December 2018, will affect anyone using a British IP address who cannot prove their age through official documents like a driving license, credit card or age verification card bought at a shop.
