The ban on ‘gay cure therapy’ is passed in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico governor Ricardo Rosselló has signed an executive order banning so-called gay conversion therapy performed on people under 18. He announced it on social media, as he posted a picture of himself signing the document on his Twitter account. Days after a bill on the subject was blocked in the House of Representatives by his own party, the New Progressive Party, the governor stated that he sup[ported this practice being outlawed because it is harmful, unscientific, and it makes people suffer mentally and physically. He added that his goal as a governor is to make Puerto Rican society modern, progressive and supportive for everyone, regardless of who they love and how they identify, so he wants to make sure that in his country nobody is persecuted. This includes the most vulnerable in society, our children, who must be supported and loved. Conversion therapy does not benefit anyone in any way, it only causes unimaginable pain and suffering,” he clarified
