The verbal confrontation between the two Indiana natives – one of whom is a gay married man, the other one is a prominent opponent of LGBT rights; one of whom hopes to hold the first position in the country, the pother one is currently holding the second – continues. During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Buttigieg was asked about Pence’s suggestion that his criticisms of the vice president were part of a cynical attempt to gain support for his presidential campaign and the VP’s accusation of Buttigieg attacking him for being a Christian. As for the latter, the gay politician said that he cannot attack Christians because he is a Christian too, but he is against the usage of Christianity to hurt, harm, target and exclude people, God does not want people to use His name for it. Buttigieg continued: “I’m not interested in feuding with the Vice President, but if he wanted to clear this up, he could come out today and say he’s changed his mind and that it shouldn’t be legal to discriminate against anybody in this country for who they are”
