Arlene Forster is still against same-sex marriages

Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader Arlene Foster expressed condolences to the female partner of the murdered journalist Lyra McKee, but said that her views on LGBT rights in general has not changed. Foster joined political leaders from across the UK and Ireland at the funeral of Lyra McKee, a journalist who was shot dead in Derry She said that she sympathized and empathized McKee’s partner Sarah Canning, she has no doubt that the two loved eah other deeply. But DUP insists that marriage can only be viewed as a union of one man and one woman, and she is going to stick to this. “I don’t think that takes away… you shouldn’t conflate the two issues of empathy and sympathy with Sara for her loss, and a political issue of the definition of marriage,” says the leader of the party which is believed to be responsible for Northern Ireland being the only part of the UK where same-sex marriages are still not legally approved.
