O2 has launched a ‘transition toolkit’ in partnership with Stonewall to support their workers who decided to transition. According to Ilona Smith, client account manager at Stonewall , one in 2 trans individuals prefer to hide their gender identity from employers and co-workers due to fear of being discriminated against. That is why businesses should be more responsible for creating more accepting and welcoming environments for their employees. Developing policies to support trans employees is a positive step towards creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels free to be themselves,” Smith added. Mark Leonard, chair of O2’s LGBT+ employee network, said that even though transition is not a career issue, we are all people first of all and we deserve to be supported when we need it. “I’m grateful to Stonewall for their help in creating our transitioning toolkit and proud of O2 for being a leading progressive employer. In 2019 nobody should feel alone or unsupported at work,” he said.
