There is a new children’s TV show with a gay couple as main characters

Hulu is set to break boundaries with its upcoming children’s TV show The Bravest Knight, where two main characters are male and they are in love. Based on the Daniel Errico book of the same name, the animated series centers on Sir Cedric (voiced by former Grey’s Anatomy actor T.R. Knight. He has a perfect last name for this role, doesn’t he?), his husband Prince Andrew (Star Trek: Discovery‘s Wilson Cruz). The spouses are adopting a lovely 10-year-old named Nia (voiced by A Wrinkle in Time breakout Storm Reid). Cedric looks back on his humble beginnings as a pumpkin farmer and relays to Nia how he used his ethics, compassion and, of course, dragon-slaying skills to become a knight and a hero of his country. Inspired by the story of one of her dads, Nia decided that the kingdom needs a new knight like herself. Who says that a girl cannot be a good knight? Sit back and watch! Set to land on the subscription streaming service in June, The Bravest Knight also features the voices of The Fosters‘ Teri Polo, Donna Murphy, Steven Weber, Wanda Sykes, Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean, The Good Fight‘s Christine Baranski and Drag Race host RuPaul. Grammy-nominated musician and activist Justin Tranter writes and performs the show’s theme song.
