Coronation Street actor has something to tell the homophobic Pride protesters

Instead of ignoring the small group of protestors – who were standing in the crowd holding up signs with anti-LGBT+ messages – actor Antony Cotton jumped off his float and started waving the Pride flag right in front of the faces of the haters. Cotton – who plays Sean Tully on the ITV soap – then told the group to “shut up” and blew them a kiss before coming back to his co-stars on the float. He was praised for such a courage on social media. Meanwhile, actor Sean Chriscole shared the video of Cotton’s run-in with protestors and wrote: “Pride is a stark reminder for me that the man I used to proudly call ‘Dad’ is now one of those stupid anti-Pride protestors (and more). He may not be in that group shown in the video, but he might as well be. Well played @antonycotton.” Last year, Cotton and fellow Corrie-star Nicola Thorp took a stand against protesters at the event. Speaking at last year’s event, Thorp shouted at protesters: “It’s a shame that you felt you needed to show your presence here today. You and your beliefs are not welcome here. You are not welcome to come and judge our sexuality.”
