The former Welsh rugby captain was made to publicly reveal his HIV status. The 45-year-old sportsman says that it breaks his heart to see the stigma around people with HIV and he wants to show the world that the diagnosis is not an opposite to happiness and success. And having HIV does not mean being in agony, there are quite high chances to have average life duration if the treatment is appropriate. But people with this condition are often misrepresented and misunderstood, so Thomas was also afraid and sort of ashamed to tell the truth. But there were certain circumstances that made him o so, as he said in a video made viral on his Twitter account: “No, even though I’ve been forced to tell you this, I choose to fight and educate to break the stigma around this subject. And that begins today, when I take on the toughest IronMan in the world in Tenby and I push myself physically to the limits.”
