Viewers are accusing the Netflix show of being biphobic and transphobic following a scene featuring new girl, Ali, played by Ali Wong. Ali comes out to the classmates as pansexual, explaining to them that pansexuality has many similar features with bisexuality, but it is wider, because it includes not only gender binary. “Some of you like tacos and some of you like burritos and if you’re bisexual you like tacos and burritos… But I’m saying I like tacos and burritos, and I could be into a taco that was born a burrito… Or a burrito that is transitioning into a taco… And honey, anything else on the f*****g menu,” she says. But in fact this parallel is not quite right. If a taco identifies as a burrito , it can be loved by burrito lovers and vice versa, and in both cases of “transfoodness” trans-tacos and trans-burritos can be loved by people who love both tacos and burritos. Trans people can date straight or bi people, for short. One user wrote, “really, really not that hard to be like ‘Awh pansexual means I’m attracted to everyone regardless of their gender’ this just implies trans people are not real genders and that bisexuality is being transphobic.”
