Munroe Bergdorf on why she dislikes gender reveal parties

Transgender model and activist Munroe Bergdorf believes that gender reveal parties are potentially dangerous for those children who will grow up realizing they are trans or gender non-confirming. Bergdorf pointed out on The Independent’s dating and relationships podcast, Millennial Love that gender is a spectrum, and the idea of gender reveal parties if often based on stereotypes like blue or p[ink, princess crown or a football ball. And this is also sort of sexist and narrow-minded even when it comes to cisgender kids – princes also wear crowns, ladies also play football, and this is just one example of a completely wrong stereotype imposed on children, so that they treat their gender not as an instrument of self-expression but as an obstacle to do what they want,” the model added.
