Champion baseball player Sean Doolittle has declined an invitation to a ceremony in the White House as a sign of protest against Donald Trump administration’s policy towards sexual minorities. For him it is a personal issue because he has two lesbian mothers-in-lawm who brought up his wife Eireann Dolan , and wants to express love and support to them, as well as refugees, disabled people and people of color, whom Trump also treats wrong. The issue of ableism is also familiar to him because his brother is autistic. “There’s a lot of things, policies that I disagree with, but at the end of the day, it has more to do with the divisive rhetoric and the enabling of conspiracy theories and widening the divide in this country,” Doolittle said. “At the end of the day, as much as I wanted to be there with my teammates and share that experience with my teammates, I can’t do it. I just can’t do it.”
