Students of a Catholic school where a lesbian student was allegedly bullied express their protests

Students at a Catholic high school in California have staged a walkout after teachers threatened to out a gay classmate to her parents and made rules stricter for her, as separating her from her girlfriend during classes and lunch and forbidding them to hold hands. Although the school’s rules don’t mention that same-sex relationships between students are forbidden. The girl’s former classmates (the abusive treatment has affected her so much that she developed mental health issues and had to be moved to another school) were appalled to hear how she’d been treated, and the next day they showed their support in an amazing way – by staging a mass walkout. Around 200 students walked out of their classes on Friday afternoon in protest. And even though the teachers expressed disagreement, they did not even try to stop the protestors.
