Liberal Democrat MP Layla Moran has revealed she is in a relationship with a woman. She told PinkNews that she is attracted to people, not to a certain gender and she considers the term ‘pansexual’ as the most appropriate to describe her sexuality. The MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, who was first elected to parliament in 2017, revealed for the first time that she is dating a woman, a former Lib Dem press officer Rosy Cobb. “It doesn’t matter about the physical attributions of the person you fall in love with, it’s about the person themselves,” said the politician. The MP is believed to be the first UK parliamentarian to come out as pansexual, though there are several lesbian, gay and bi MPs elected to the Parliament in 2019 or keeping their seats for years. She revealed that falling in love with her now-girlfriend came as a surprise even for herself, because she had never even thought about being attracted to women before. “It did make me think: have I always been attracted to women? Was this something I was hiding before? It made me really think about how I’d approached my life before… I decided, sod everything else, you just need to be happy!” she said. So, from now on she is a completely happy out and proud pansexual woman.
