Police in Northern Ireland have arrested four men over the murder of the openly lesbian media reporter and human rights campaigner which happened in April 2019. The four men, aged 20, 27, 29 and 52, were arrested in Derry/Londonderry this morning under the Terrorism Act after the New IRA claimed responsibility for her death in the Creggan area of the city while reporting on riots that had broken out. Senior investigating officer, detective superintendent Jason Murphy, has renewed his call for the public to help them with an investigation, asking those who had footage from that area dated the murder night (April 18) to share their videos with the police. McKee was just 29-years-old when she was shot dead last year and had signed a two-book deal with Faber & Faber shortly before. She also planned a trip to New York where she wanted to ask a woman she loved to be her wife and to marry her as soon as same-sex marriages in her native Northern Ireland were legally recognized.
