Nearly 150 companies, including Nike and Amazon, campaign against gay adoption ban

Amazon, Nike, American Airlines and nearly 150 other companies expressed their opposition to the b5rand new law that allows adoption agencies to reject potential adopters on the basis of their (meaning the agency owners’) religious views, which will mostly affect same-sex couples and single people willing to adopt, as well as representatives of other religions than those practiced by the agencies’ owners. Tennessee governor Bill Lee signed the bill into law in January. The letter, which was signed by a collective called the Tennessee Businesses Against Discrimination that includes giants Amazon, Nike and American Airlines, has been sent to Lee, urging him to reconsider his views on the queer population of his state and to stop excluding and targeting them on the level of law. The companies demand that lawmakers do not pursue any further legislation if it is anti-LGBT.
